NCCLSBAF is intended for the cultivation, isolation, quantitation and partial identification of obligate anaerobicbacteria.  This medium will also support the growth of aerobic and microaerophilic bacteria if incubated appropriately.NCCLSBAF is an enriched non-selective medium.  The basic nutritive properties consist of caesin peptones, dextrose, and yeast extract.  NCCLSBAF can be supplemented aseptically with various growth factors and additives once the media has been autoclaved.  Further supplementation with vitamin K1, hemin and whole sheep blood facilitates the recovery of the more fastidious organisms.  Additional supplementation with antibiotics will make the media selective.
